As office vacancies continue to reshape downtowns across the country, IPX1031, a Fidelity National subsidiary, recently surveyed Americans about how they think empty office buildings should be repurposed.
The report finds 75% of Americans say they would live in a converted office building and 83% would support government incentives to repurpose vacant office buildings.
- 65% say their community needs more affordable housing
- 72% would support local tax incentives for office redevelopment
- 56% say empty office buildings negatively impact how they feel about their community
Additionally, nearly 9 in 10 (88%) Americans notice vacant or underutilized office buildings in their area and 68% view these vacant buildings as a problem.
